Sbar e sua influência na comunicação efetiva durante transição de cuidados

Resumo

Introduction: Handoff communication is one of the main tools used by the nursing team during care transitions, requiring structured and effective communication to ensure continuity of care and patient safety. In this context, the Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation (SBAR) tool stands out as a systematized communication method widely applied in different healthcare settings. Objective: To analyze the influence of the SBAR protocol on communication during nursing care transitions and highlight the importance of its functionality for care quality and patient safety. Method: This is an Integrative Literature Review guided by the question: “How can the use of the SBAR protocol contribute to improving communication during care transitions, thereby promoting patient safety?” Results: The analyzed studies showed that the use of SBAR supports the standardization of information, promotes effective communication among professionals, and reduces errors during handoff. Final considerations: The use of structured tools such as SBAR contributes to the continuity of nursing care, strengthens patient safety, and optimizes the time dedicated to communication among professionals, enhancing care quality and consolidating safer and more efficient communicative practices within the clinical environment.
