| pt_BR |

dc.description.resumo | Hospitals are considered to be one of the most complex institutions in contemporary society, due to the numerous functions they contain and the constant physical, organizational and operational changes they experience in the face of technological, scientific and social advances. In this sense, hospital buildings demand systematically developed projects, valuing the functionality, safety, flexibility and quality of their spaces. The conditions to be considered in the hospital project are diverse: urban, topographic, legal, environmental and functional. The correct sectorization of the functional units and the adequate planning of the circulation system that contributes to the efficiency in the care of its users and their satisfaction are highlighted, in order to assume a structuring role of the institution's organizational identity. In his career as an architect and engineer, Jarbas Bela Karman designed and renovated hundreds of hospitals, developed methods that became important guidelines for hospital projects and expanded the discussions and debates on the topic in Brazil. This research aims to understand the dynamics of flows within hospitals from the spatial configuration and functional organization of three projects by Jarbas Karman. For the research, three different hospitals in scale and formal complexity were selected. The methodology included literature review, analysis of architectural language and syntactic analysis based on the concepts of spatial syntax. Among the results, the following stand out: the close relationship between the dynamics of movement and the configuration of the hospital buildings analyzed, the low intelligibility of the space system as a whole, and greater control of crossing undesirable flows, in hospitals that have circulation axes separated according to functionality (public, administrative and service). | pt_BR |
