dc.description.abstract	A temática sobre Segurança Pública está inclusa entre as maiores preocupações contemporâneas da sociedade brasileira, na qual a atuação específica da Polícia Militar é foco de inúmeros questionamentos. Avalia-se se o Curso de Tiro Defensivo na Preservação da Vida (TDPV) – “Método Giraldi®”, instituído na Polícia Militar do Espírito Santo no ano de 2002, preparou o policial militar para servir e proteger a sociedade e a ele próprio em consonância aos Direitos Humanos e Direito Internacional Humanitário após duas décadas de sua implantação na Polícia Militar do Espírito Santo, reduzindo-se a letalidade resultante da atuação policial militar em nível estadual. O Curso de Tiro Defensivo na Preservação da Vida – “Método Giraldi®” prevê, por meio da formação continuada, a mudança de comportamento na atuação do Encarregado de Aplicação da Lei, convergindo para uma Polícia Cidadã e Humanitária. Desenvolveu-se a pesquisa por meio do método dedutivo. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória e descritiva e, quanto aos seus objetivos, e do ponto de vista dos procedimentos de coleta de dados, trata-se de um estudo bibliográfico e documental. Constatou-se que a instrução Método “Método Giraldi®” foi aplicada para todo o efetivo da PMES de forma ininterrupta, buscando-se sempre a preservação da vida. Produziu-se, através da coleta e tratamento de dados, um parâmetro de aferição, uma doutrina que atende às necessidades dos policiais militares quanto à técnica necessária para atuação armada em defesa da sociedade capixaba. Conclui-se que, com a aplicação do TDPV, a prestação de serviços por parte da Polícia Militar do Espírito Santo é bastante exitosa, sendo adotada uma postura menos agressiva, minimizando, assim, o risco de abusos. Confirmou-se a hipótese de que, após o treinamento, ocorreu a mudança de comportamento dos policiais militares proporcionando a utilização do armamento letal somente nas excludentes de ilicitude previstos na Legislação Nacional e em consonância com a Legislação Internacional dos Direitos Humanos.	pt_BR

dc.description.resumo	The theme of Public Security is included among the greatest contemporary concerns of Brazilian society, in which the specific role of the Military Police is the focus of numerous questions. Evaluates whether the Defensive Shooting Course in Preservation of Life - "Giraldi Method®" instituted in the Military Police of Espírito Santo in 2002, prepared the military police officer to serve and protect society and himself in line with Human Rights and Law International Humanitarian, after two decades of its implementation in the Military Police of Espírito Santo, reducing the lethality resulting from military police action at the state level. The Defensive Shooting Course in Preservation of Life – “Giraldi Method®” provides, through continuing education, a change in behavior in the performance of the Law Enforcement Officer, converging towards a Citizen and Humanitarian Police. The research was developed through the deductive method. It is an exploratory and descriptive research, regarding its objectives, and from the point of view of data collection procedures, it is a bibliographic and documental study. It was found that the instruction “Metodo Giraldi®” was applied to the entire staff of the PMES in an uninterrupted way, always seeking to preserve life. Through the collection and treatment of data, a measurement parameter was produced, a doctrine that meets the needs of the military police regarding the technique necessary for armed action in defense of the society of Espírito Santo. It is concluded that with the application of the TDPV, the provision of services by the Military Police of Espírito Santo is quite successful, with a less aggressive posture being adopted, thus minimizing the risk of abuse. The hypothesis was confirmed that after the training, there was a change in the behavior of the military police, providing the use of lethal weapons only in the exclusions of illegality provided for in the National Legislation and in line with the International Legislation of Human Rights.	pt_BR
