A cidade, a flânerie e o dandismo como representações na sociedade moderna

Abstract

The flânerie - central concept of this work - stands to be a time when the individual starts to roam the streets, in an attempt to observe what happens around you, to capture something more permanent in the urban setting. In parallel, we can see the emergence of a dialogue that dandyism down with the city, a factor crucial to understanding the urban imagination of the nineteenth century to the present day. By analyzing the works of Baudelaire, Benjamin in a look, we evaluate how is this interweaving - flânerie, city, dandyism - aiming to answer the interrelationship of this triad, and to highlight the relevance of the writings produced in relation to dandyism for understanding the city and its inhabitants.
