| pt_BR |

dc.description.resumo | For the treatment of obesity many dry extracts of medicinal plants have been prescribed by doctors and nutritionists. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of metals in the extracts of plants prescribed as supplements in the treatment for weight loss: Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze, Citrus aurantium L., Cordia ecalyculata Vell, Ilex paraguariensis A. St. - Hil, Cissus quadrangularis L., Senna Alexandrian Mill. The metal analyse was determined using the ICP-OES. The samples were digested and quantified in order to identify Al, Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Li, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, V and Zn. The presence of metals in all extracts was observed, especially Mn, Al and Fe in samples of C. sinensis, I. paraguariensis, C. quadrangularis and C. aurantium. Patients were also evaluated quantification data by the source with the largest contaminated samples whose origin was China. It is concluded that the extracts used in the treatment of weight loss contain various metals, which, so there is the need for greater vigilance in relation to the raw material used for dispensing dry extracts. | pt_BR |
