Violência contra crianças e adolescentes: a notificação e atuação do Conselho Tutelar no Município de Vila Velha/ ES

Abstract

Many studies have found that individuals exposed to different forms of violence throughout their development are at incresed risk for the emergence of psychological symptoms or disorders, such as: low self-esteem, low sense of self-efficacy, aggressive behaviour, internalizing and externalizing symptoms. Violence affects individual and coletive health, causes deaths, injuries, physical and mental trauma; reduces the quality of life of people and communities; poses new problems for public management, for civil society, and private institutions, and for services; and highlights the need for prevention and treatment on na interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, intersectorial and socially engaged bases. This work aims to initiate an important discussion regarding the protection of children and adolescents in the Municipality of Vila Velha. The objective is to analyze municipal performance with a view to the guardianship council, in the case study of administrative region II of the municipality. During the work, the historical perception of children and violence will be presented through a theoretical review, identifying concepts and types of violence against children and adolescents according to the World Health Organization classification, verifying the emergence of protective laws to international and national level, understand the protection network at national and Espírito Santo levels, as well as the results of the focus group carried out with counselors from region II. The work is not intended to end the discussion, but rather to start it by showing society the important work carried out, bringing to light the successes and what can be improved to effectively protect children and adolescents.
