Studying gender relations in the world of work is first and foremost a reflexive exercise on the extent to which essentialism has operationalized the sexual division of labor and on how such segmentation as a sociocultural construction has delimited the space of women in feminized professions. In this direction, the librarian profession practiced mainly in Antiquity, Middle Ages and Modern by men, in the early twentieth century passed through a process of feminization and feminization and inherent in this, librarians and librarians began to deal with the setbacks of gender stereotypes in the job market. The general objective of this work was to understand how the gender relations and the sexual division of labor are perceived in the daily life of the librarians and librarians in the Integrated System of Libraries of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (SIB / UFES). For that, a research of the type of observing participation was carried out at the SIB / UFES, where a total of 45 professionals, through a semistructured interview, 10 librarians and 15 librarians answered a questionnaire with open and closed questions. In the second stage, based on the Content Analysis technique, a priori categories were created for interpretation of the data a posteriori. The results indicated that the librarians of the SIB / UFES do not have such a clear vision about the term sexual division of labor, most are unaware of their existence in their professional daily life, however the majority ratifies through certain actions observed in the interviews, androcentric culture rooted in the structure of our society. Although it is a universe where most are librarians, gender stereotypes are remarkable and feedback. The sexual division of labor exists in an asymmetrical way in most positions of the SIB / UFES and the lack of understanding about gender relations and power structures, ditto.pt_BR
